A recreational masterplan characterises this engaging community destination located in the natural desert environment away from the bustle of the city.
Inspired by the dynamic landscape of the desert, the site is activated to connect people with environment through a memorable encounter with the desert, its ecosystem and the different moments it can offer. Featuring three lakes, the masterplan articulates areas of community activities and services while also retaining dune spaces for open views of the desert and undisturbed views of the night sky. The layout considers retention and protection of existing landscape with an endemic planting intent.
Featuring public open spaces as well as more private secluded areas of connection with nature, the park offers multiple vantage points and plentiful shading. A 5km recreational trail leads around the site connecting principal points of interest. A destination for all ages, the park experience includes playgrounds, picnic and F&B areas, diverse recreational pursuits and a sculpture park to showcase installations commissioned by local and international artists. Desert huts and lodges as well as rental airstream caravans provide an opportunity for overnight stays.
